They call it empty and ignorant,
“a dead thing”—and what an ugly name!
Of a deceased one, and woe to you from an ugly one,
لأناbecause we ماnot سمعناhave heard إذwhen تغنىit sings
لأنا ما سمعنا إذ تغنى
بميتةٍof a dead thing عليهاupon it ألفa thousand روحsouls
بميتةٍ عليها ألف روح
For when it sings, we have never heard
For we have not heard when it was sung,
of a dead thing with a thousand souls upon it.
About a deceased one, a thousand souls upon her.
