حتى غدا ناظري بالحسن مفتونا
Oh, the beauty of a pool of water I beheld,
O beauty of the blessed water I saw
Till my gaze became enchanted by its beauty!
Until my eyes became enchanted by the beauty

دارت بها أسد تبرٍ طالما قذفت

فيها من الفضة البيضا ثعابينا
Lions of gold encircled it, so often spouting
A lion of sharp sword has wandered around it
Into it serpents of white silver.
I threw in it some white snakes of silver

وفي مناقيرها قد كان مكنونا
And the birds spat out saliva I thought was pearls,
And the birds gathered saliva and left pearls
And it had lain concealed within their beaks.
And in their beaks there was something hidden

صادت سروراً لمن قد بات محزونا
They spread nets of pearls in the waters—and how much
She spread the nets of family in the water so
Joy they caught for one who had spent the night sorrowful!
She hunted happiness for those who slept depressed
