إذا ملك الإنسان ثوب قناعةٍ

ترشف كأس العز في الناس سائغه

ترشف كأس العز في الناس سائغه

If a person owns a robe of contentment,

If man possesses the garment of contentment

he sips the cup of honor among people, finding it pleasant to drink;

He sips the cup of honor among people pleasantly

ولم يخش من فقرٍ رمته سهامه

ولم يخش من فقرٍ رمته سهامه

لأن عليه نعمة الصبر سابغه

لأن عليه نعمة الصبر سابغه

and fears no poverty whose arrows have struck him,

And he does not fear the arrows of poverty striking him

for he is covered by the abundant blessing of patience.

For upon him is the blessing of patience abundant
