لم تلق ما ألقى بإصغاء
A piper says in our gathering:
A musician sings in our gathering
You did not listen attentively to what he offered.
You have not heard what I have sung with attentiveness
ماno عندكمyou have مثلa likeness إلىto حاضرٍone who is present
ما عندكم مثل إلى حاضرٍ
قلناwe said ولاnor شوقlonging إلىfor ناءone far away
قلنا ولا شوق إلى ناء
You have no likeness to one who is present.
What is with you all that is similar to the present
We said: Nor any longing for one far away.
