سافر تنل رتب المفاخر والعلا
كالدرlike the pearl سارtraveled فصارand so came to be فيin التيجانthe crowns
كالدر سار فصار في التيجان
Travel, and you will attain the ranks of glory and eminence.
Travel, you will gain ranks of glory and supremacy,
Like the pearl, which traveled and thus came to be in crowns.
Like a pearl you journeyed and so became a crown jewel,
وكذاand likewise هلالcrescent الأفقthe horizon لوif تركabandoned السرىnight travel
وكذا هلال الأفق لو ترك السرى
ماnot فارقتهleft it معرةُthe blemish النقصانincompleteness
ما فارقته معرةُ النقصان
And likewise, had the horizon’s crescent abandoned its nightly journey,
And likewise the crescent moon, had it abandoned its course,
The blemish of incompleteness would not have left it.
The stigma of waning would not have forsaken it.
