قد حارب الريح نيل مصرٍ

وعظ من غيظه الأصابع

وعظ من غيظه الأصابع

Egypt’s Nile has fought the wind,

The wind fought the Nile of Egypt

And in its rage it bit its fingers.

And preached from his anger the fingers

فجاءت الريح في انزعاج

فجاءت الريح في انزعاج

كسر من موجه الأضالع

كسر من موجه الأضالع

Then the wind came in agitation,

So the wind came in frustration

And broke the ribs of the Nile’s waves.

Broke from its wave the ribs
