بنفسيwith my life as ransom حبيباًa beloved كانwas لينsuppleness قوامهhis form
بنفسي حبيباً كان لين قوامه
كغصنlike a branch نقاa sand dune فوقabove الكثيبthe sandhill يميلُsways
كغصن نقا فوق الكثيب يميلُ
I would give my life for a beloved whose supple form was
With my soul a lover that was graceful of form
Like a branch on a dune, swaying above the sandhill.
Like a supple branch above the dune leaning
فأصبحthen he became تحتbeneath الأرضthe earth غصناًa branch منعماًtenderly nurtured
فأصبح تحت الأرض غصناً منعماً
عليهabove him كثيبٌa mound للترابof dust مهيلُheaped up
عليه كثيبٌ للتراب مهيلُ
Then beneath the earth he became a tenderly nurtured branch,
Yet he became beneath the ground a buried bough
Above him a mound of dust lay heaped.
With a dune of dust over him spilling
