عاثَتwreaked havoc فيin العَتِيقِal-Atiq بنوقُشَيرٍBanu Qushayr
عاثَت في العَتِيقِ بنوقُشَيرٍ
كَعيثِlike the ravaging of جَعَارِa hyena فيamong أخرىthe last of الرُّخالِthe ewe lambs
كَعيثِ جَعَارِ في أخرى الرُّخالِ
Banu Qushayr wreaked havoc in al-Atiq,
The tribe of Nuqushair spread corruption in the land
Like a hyena ravaging the last of the ewe lambs.
Like wild donkeys rampaging the sand dunes
خَناثَىhermaphrodites يأكلونَthey eat التمرَthe dates لَيسُواthey are not
خَناثَى يأكلونَ التمرَ لَيسُوا
بزوجاتٍwives (emphatic) يَلِدنَthey give birth ولاnor رِجالِmen
بزوجاتٍ يَلِدنَ ولا رِجالِ
Hermaphrodites who eat dates—they are not
They are effeminate date-eaters
Wives who bear children, nor men.
Not wives giving birth, nor men of valor
