فَمَنso who مُبلغٌone who conveys عنيfrom me قُرَيشاًQuraysh رسالةًa message
فَمَن مُبلغٌ عني قُرَيشاً رسالةً
وأفناءand the clans of قيسQays حيثُwherever سارَتjourneyed وحلَّتِand settled
وأفناء قيس حيثُ سارَت وحلَّتِ
Who, then, will carry a message from me to Quraysh,
Who will convey a message to the Quraish from me
and the clans of Qays, wherever they have journeyed and settled,
About the meadows of Qais where they have marched and settled?
بأنّاthat we تلاقيناwe encountered حنيفةHanifa بعدماafter
بأنّا تلاقينا حنيفة بعدما
أغارتraided علىagainst أهلthe people of الحمىthe protected pasture ثمthen وَلَّتِand withdrew
أغارت على أهل الحمى ثم وَلَّتِ
that we encountered Hanifa, after
That we met Hanifah after she had raided
they raided the people of the protected pasture, then withdrew?
The protectors of the sanctuary, and then departed.
لقدindeed نزلتencamped فيin مَعدِنِquarry البُرمِal-Burm (the stone cooking pots) نِزلةًa halt
لقد نزلت في مَعدِنِ البُرمِ نِزلةً
فلأياًand with difficulty بلأيٍwith hardship منfrom أُضاخَUdakh استقلَّتِdeparted
فلأياً بلأيٍ من أُضاخَ استقلَّتِ
Indeed, they made a halt at Maʿdin al-Burm,
I stayed for a while in the valley of al-Burma
and only with hardship upon hardship did they depart from Udakh.
In a most wretched state after she left me.
تشُكُّpierces نمَيرٌNumayr بالقناwith spears صفحاتهِمtheir flanks
تشُكُّ نمَيرٌ بالقنا صفحاتهِم
فكمand how many ثمّthere منof نذرٍa vow لهاbelonging to it قدindeed أحلَّتfulfilled
فكم ثمّ من نذرٍ لها قد أحلَّت
Numayr pierces their flanks with spears;
Namar's spear tips glisten at al-Qana
and how many a vow of its own it has fulfilled there!
As she fulfilled many a vow she had made.
