أَخفُّlightest القَوانِصthe hunting birds جسماًin body وَروحاand in spirit
أَخفُّ القَوانِص جسماً وَروحا
وَأجمُعُهاand the best of them at gathering لامورٍfor purposes أموراmatters
وَأجمُعُها لامورٍ أمورا
The lightest of hunting birds in body and spirit,
The lightest of frames yet stoutest in spirit,
and best among them at marshalling matters for its purposes,
The most prudent in matters, matters that matter,
وأكرَمُهاand the noblest of them باشِقٌa sparrowhawk حاذِقٌskillful
وأكرَمُها باشِقٌ حاذِقٌ
يُساويit equals البُزاةَthe goshawks وَيَشأىand outstrips الصقوراthe falcons
يُساوي البُزاةَ وَيَشأى الصقورا
and the noblest of them is a skillful sparrowhawk.
The most generous - a wise and skillful knight,
It equals the goshawks and outstrips the falcons.
As brave as lions and as keen-eyed as eagles,
يُقَلِّبُit turns عَينَينtwo eyes ياbeginning of 'two rubies' قوتتَينِcompletion of 'two rubies'
يُقَلِّبُ عَينَين يا قوتتَينِ
تَرىyou see التِبرَraw gold حَولهُماaround the two of them مُستَديراforming a circle
تَرى التِبرَ حَولهُما مُستَديرا
It turns two eyes, two rubies;
With a gaze so powerful, those pair of eyes,
you see gold forming a ring around them.
They see specks of dust encircling all about.
