آثاره تحمي البقاعَ وزأرُه
قبلbefore اللقاءthe encounter يُطِّعcuts off (probable reading) الأنفاساbreaths
قبل اللقاء يُطِّع الأنفاسا
His tracks guard the lands, and his roar
His traces protect the lands and his roar
cuts off breath before the encounter.
Before the encounter subdues the breaths
يوميhe gestures إلىtoward البطلthe champion الكميِّthe armored warrior بلحظهwith his glance
يومي إلى البطل الكميِّ بلحظه
فيحولso becomes خاطرُthe passing thought فكرهof his mind وسواساanxious misgiving
فيحول خاطرُ فكره وسواسا
He gestures toward the armored champion with his glance,
My day to the brave, numerical hero in a glance
so the thought in the champion's mind turns to anxious misgiving.
So the idea of his thought becomes obsession
ترتاعare terrified أبصارeyes الورىhumankind منfrom خوفهfear of him
ترتاع أبصار الورى من خوفه
فترىso see نواظرهاtheir eyes الضحىthe morning brightness أغلاساpre-dawn gloom
فترى نواظرها الضحى أغلاسا
The eyes of humankind tremble with fear of him,
The sights of creation shake in fear of him
so their eyes see bright morning as pre-dawn gloom.
So their glances see the morning darkened
تُخشىare feared بوادرُthe first signs بأسهof his ferocity حتىto the point that يُرىis seen
تُخشى بوادرُ بأسه حتى يُرى
بالخوفthrough fear منهof him كلُّevery شيءٍthing باساa terror
بالخوف منه كلُّ شيءٍ باسا
The first signs of his ferocity are so feared that one sees
The beginnings of his might are feared until he is seen
everything as a terror, out of fear of him.
With fear of him everything seems downcast
