ذاتِpossessed of دَلالٍcoquetry فيin طرفهاher gaze مَرَضُlanguor
There is no life but at the hand of a slave girl,
Full of coquetry, with languor in her gaze.
كأنَّas though فيin الكأسِthe cup حينَwhen تَمزُجُهُshe mixes it
نجومَstars رجمٍfor pelting تعلوrise وتنخَفِضُand fall
As though within the cup, when she mixes it,
Stars hurled as missiles rise and fall.

ليسَthere is not لهاfor it قيمةٌa price ولاnor عِوَضُa substitute
She carries in her cup wine mingled with water,
Beyond all price, with no substitute.
