إذاif المرءُa man أحمىdenies نَفسَهُhimself كلَّevery شَهوَةٍdesire
لِصِحَّةِfor the health of أَيّامٍdays تَبيدُperish وتَنفَدُand run out
If a man denies himself every desire
For health in days that perish and run out,
فماthen what بالُهُhis state لاnot يَحتَميhe abstains عَنfrom حَرامِهاwhat is forbidden of it
لِصِحَّةِfor the well-being of ماwhat يَبقىabides لَهُfor him وَيُخَلَّدُand is made eternal
Why, then, does he not abstain from forbidden desires
For the well-being of what abides for him and is made eternal?
