ومُدامةٍand a wine لاnot يبتغيseeks منfrom رَبِّهِhis Lord
ومُدامةٍ لا يبتغي من رَبِّهِ
أَحَدٌanyone حَباهُHe favored him بهاwith it لديهwith Him مزيداanything more
أَحَدٌ حَباهُ بها لديه مزيدا
And a wine—no one seeks from his Lord
With wine so pure that none would seek
any further bounty once He has blessed him with it.
More from his Lord once he's partaken
فيin كأسهاits cup صُوَرٌfigures تُظَنُّare thought to be لحسنهاfor their beauty
في كأسها صُوَرٌ تُظَنُّ لحسنها
عُرُباًloving women برزنَthey emerged منfrom الجنانِParadise وغيداand graceful women
عُرُباً برزنَ من الجنانِ وغيدا
In its cup are figures thought, for their beauty,
In her glass are forms so fair, you'd think
to be loving, graceful women come forth from Paradise.
Houries had come from Heaven's garden
وإذاand when المزاجthe mixing water أثارهاstirs it فتقسَّمَتso it divides
وإذا المزاج أثارها فتقسَّمَت
ذَهَباًgold ودُرّاًand pearls تَوأماًpaired وفريداand single
ذَهَباً ودُرّاً تَوأماً وفريدا
And when the mixing water stirs it, it divides
When she is stirred and starts to foam
into gold and pearls, paired and single.
She turns to liquid gold and pearls
فكأنَّهُنَّso it is as though they لَبِسنَthey donned ذاكَthat مجاسداًtunics
فكأنَّهُنَّ لَبِسنَ ذاكَ مجاسداً
وجَعَلنَand they made ذاthis لنحورهِنَّfor their throats عقوداnecklaces
وجَعَلنَ ذا لنحورهِنَّ عقودا
As though they had donned that as tunics
As though the maidens had put on gowns
and made this into necklaces for their throats.
And hung those pearls around their curls
