وَشَطَّتْ نَوَى مَنْ حَلَّ جَوَّا وَمَحْضَرَا
My heart persisted today in what it remembered,
My heart was stirred today as I recalled
And far stretched the separation from those who dwelt in Jaww and Mahdar,
And yearned for those who once gathered and dwelled

لَكَ الْعَيْنُ فِيهِمْ مُسْتَرَاداً وَمَنْظَرا
Of the clan, when they were there, and when there was
Among the living, when they were there and you could see
For your eye among them a place to roam and a sight to behold.
Your eyes seeking them out and beholding their sight
وَمَاand not الْقَلْبُthe heart إلاَّexcept ذِكْرُهُits remembrance of حَارِثِيَّةًa Harithite woman

خُوَاريَّةً يَحْيَى لَهَا أهْلُ أبهَرَا
And the heart is nothing but its remembrance of a Harithite woman—
For the heart is naught but the memory of them-
A Khuwarite, for whom the people of Abhar live.
Humble and lowly, brought to life by the people of Abhara
