    عَلِيَّاً وأنَّ القَوْمَ طَاعُوا مُعَاوِيَهْ

    It is sorrow enough that we disobeyed our imam,

    Ali, and that the people obeyed Muawiya;

    and that, in this, the people of al-Sham have the advantage

    over us because of what they said; so the eye weeps.

    So glory be to Him who fixed Thabir in its place,

    and who holds the seven layered heavens just as they are.

    Is an imam to be disobeyed, whose right God made binding

    upon us, while the people of al-Sham are obedient to a tyrant?
