وَلَيسَand is not بِنافِعٍof benefit ذاthe possessor of البُخلِstinginess مالٌwealth
وَلَيسَ بِنافِعٍ ذا البُخلِ مالٌ
وَلاnor مُزرٍdemeaning بِصاحِبِهِto its possessor السَخاءُgenerosity
وَلا مُزرٍ بِصاحِبِهِ السَخاءُ
And wealth is of no benefit to the miser.
No wealth availeth miser's greedy hands
Nor does generosity demean its possessor.
No open hand is burdened by its alms
وَماand what أَخَّرتَyou held back مِنof دُنياكَyour worldly wealth نَقصٌa loss
وَما أَخَّرتَ مِن دُنياكَ نَقصٌ
وَإِنand if قَدَّمتَyou sent ahead كانَwill be لَكَfor you الزَكاءُincrease
وَإِن قَدَّمتَ كانَ لَكَ الزَكاءُ
And what you hold back of your worldly wealth is a loss.
What thou withholdest is diminished loss
And if you send it ahead, increase will be yours.
What thou disbursest is increased gain
