كأن عشي الفطر في شاطئ النهر
وقدوقد: while already زهرتزهرت: blossomed فيهفيه: in it; there الأزاهرالأزاهر: the flowers كالزهركالزهر: like the bright stars
وقد زهرت فيه الأزاهر كالزهر
As though Eid al-Fitr’s evening were on the riverbank,
As if an evening of Eid on the riverbank
While the flowers there had blossomed like bright stars,
Where flowers have blossomed like flowers
نرشنرش: we sprinkle بماءبماء: with the water of الوردالورد: roses رشارشا: a sprinkling وننثنيوننثني: and we turn back
نرش بماء الورد رشا وننثني
لتغليفلتغليف: to perfume; to coat أفواهٍأفواهٍ: mouths بطبيةبطبية: with a wineskin of الخمرالخمر: wine
لتغليف أفواهٍ بطبية الخمر
We sprinkle rosewater in sprays, then turn back
Sprinkling rose water spray and swaying
To perfume mouths with wine from a wineskin.
To seal mouths with the healing wine
