إنif يكنْhe has قَطَّرdistilled منfrom رِيِقِهhis saliva
إن يكنْ قَطَّر من رِيِقِه
ماءَwater َوْردٍroses لحياةِfor the life of الأنْفُسِthe souls
ماءَ َوْردٍ لحياةِ الأنْفُسِ
If he has distilled from his saliva
If from his saliva dripped
rosewater to bring souls to life,
Rosewater to revive souls,
فلقدthen indeed أبْدَىrevealed لناto us منfrom وَجْهِهِhis face
فلقد أبْدَى لنا من وَجْهِهِ
عَرَقُsweat الْفِتْنةِenchantment عِطْرَfragrance النَّفَسِthe breath
عَرَقُ الْفِتْنةِ عِطْرَ النَّفَسِ
then indeed, from his face, there has been revealed to us
Then from his face he revealed
the fragrance of breath by the sweat of enchantment.
The sweat of strife, the scent of breath.
