فلا يحْظُر الوصلُ في خاطِرِي
And a gazelle—I contemplate his haughtiness;
And a gazelle whose haughtiness I ponder—
so union does not enter my thoughts.
so union never crosses my mind.

كَلَيْلِي عليه بلا آخِرِ
He bestowed upon me a mere promise of his,
He granted me a mere promise of his,
like my night because of him—without end.
like my night on his account, without end.
