ماnot خُصَّwas singled out ذوone possessed of الجهلِignorance الدَّنِيِّbase برُتْبةٍwith a rank
ما خُصَّ ذو الجهلِ الدَّنِيِّ برُتْبةٍ
إلاَّexcept كماjust as خُصَّwas singled out الخِتامُthe signet ring بخِنْصَرِto a little finger
إلاَّ كما خُصَّ الخِتامُ بخِنْصَرِ
A man of base ignorance is not distinguished with a rank
The ignorant man deserves no rank
Except as the signet ring is assigned to the little finger.
As a seal deserves no finger
