منof الرَّوضِthe garden عمَّاfor what يصْطفِيهchooses it جِنانُgardens
من الرَّوضِ عمَّا يصْطفِيه جِنانُ
I have no need—having seen the loveliest view
I sang when I beheld the loveliest sight,
of the garden—for what gardens choose.
Of the garden, beyond what Heav'n's gardens plight,
فأزْهَارُهfor its flowers وَشْيٌbrocade وسَلْسَلُand the sweet flow مائِهof its water
فأزْهَارُه وَشْيٌ وسَلْسَلُ مائِه

سُلافُ كُؤوسٍ والطيورُ قِيانُ
For its flowers are brocade, and its sweet-flowing water
With flowers like pearls, and water chains bright,
is the finest wine in cups, and the birds are singing girls.
And bird songs, and wine cups' delight.
