تَفاضَلَت الطَبائِعُ وَالظُروفُ
Your father is my father, and you are my brother, yet
My friend, your father is my father, and you are my brother, but
our natures and circumstances are unequal.
Our natures and circumstances have differed.
وَأُمُّكَand your mother حينَwhen تُنَسبُher lineage is traced أُمُّa mother صِدقٍintegrity

وَلكِنَّ اِبنَها طَبعٌ سَخيفُ
And your mother, when her lineage is traced, is an honorable mother,
Your mother, when called a mother of truth,
yet her son has a foolish disposition.
But her son is of frivolous temperament.
وَقَومَكَand your people يَعلَمونَknow إِذاwhen اِلتَقيناwe meet

مَنِ المَرجُوُّ مِنّا وَالمَخوفَ
And your people know, when we meet,
Your people know, whenever we meet,
which of us is looked to with hope and feared.
Who is to be hoped for, and who is to be feared.
