لَحىmay curse اللَهُGod أَنآناthe most distant of us عَنِfrom الضَيفِthe guest بِالقِرىwith hospitality
لَحى اللَهُ أَنآنا عَنِ الضَيفِ بِالقِرى
وَأَقصَرَناand the most remiss of us عَنfrom عِرضِthe honor of والِدِهِhis father ذَبّاin defending
وَأَقصَرَنا عَن عِرضِ والِدِهِ ذَبّا
May God curse the one among us furthest from offering a guest hospitality,
and the one among us who does least to defend his father's honor,
وَأَجدَرَناand the most deserving of us أَنto يَدخُلَenter البَيتَthe house بِاِستِهِwith his backside
وَأَجدَرَنا أَن يَدخُلَ البَيتَ بِاِستِهِ
إِذاwhen القُفُّthe rocky hill دَلّىsent down مِنfrom مَخارِمِهِits passes رَكباa band of riders
إِذا القُفُّ دَلّى مِن مَخارِمِهِ رَكبا
and the one among us most apt to enter the house backside first,
when the rocky hill sends a band of riders down from its passes.
