خُذ مِن أَخيكَ العَفوَ وَاِغفِر ذُنوبَهُ

خُذ مِن أَخيكَ العَفوَ وَاِغفِر ذُنوبَهُ

وَلا تَكُ في كُلِّ الأُمورِ تُعاتِبُهْ

وَلا تَكُ في كُلِّ الأُمورِ تُعاتِبُهْ

Accept what your brother freely offers, and forgive his faults.

Take forgiveness from your brother and forgive his sins

And do not reproach him over every matter.

And do not always blame him for everything

فَإِنَّكَ لَن تَلقى أَخاكَ مُهَذَّباً

فَإِنَّكَ لَن تَلقى أَخاكَ مُهَذَّباً

وَأَيُّ اِمرىءٍ يَنجو مِنَ العَيبِ صاحِبُهْ

وَأَيُّ اِمرىءٍ يَنجو مِنَ العَيبِ صاحِبُهْ

For you will never find your brother free of flaws.

For you will never find a brother free of fault

And what man has a companion who escapes all fault?

And what man escapes from the flaws of his companion?

أَخوكَ الَّذي لا يَنقُضُ النَأيُ عَهدَهُ

أَخوكَ الَّذي لا يَنقُضُ النَأيُ عَهدَهُ

وَلا عِندَ صَرفِ الدَهرِ يَزوَرُّ جانِبُهْ

وَلا عِندَ صَرفِ الدَهرِ يَزوَرُّ جانِبُهْ

Your brother is the one whose pledge distance does not break,

Your brother whose covenant exile does not break

And who does not turn his side away amid time’s reversals.

Nor in the turning of fate does he change his side

وَلَيسَ الَّذي يَلقاكَ بِالبِشرِ وَالرِضا

وَلَيسَ الَّذي يَلقاكَ بِالبِشرِ وَالرِضا

وَإِن غِبتَ عَنهُ لَسَّعَتكَ عَقارِبُهْ

وَإِن غِبتَ عَنهُ لَسَّعَتكَ عَقارِبُهْ

Not the one who meets you with cheerfulness and approval,

And he who meets you with joy and pleasure

Yet, if you are away from him, his scorpions sting you repeatedly.

If you are absent from him, his scorpions sting you
