    طواها فباتَ البَينُ عنها يُترجِمُ

    My abode held what ailed me—sorrow and yearning;

    It concealed that yearning; then parting began to give it voice.

    For he who shuns me has ruined my clear discernment,

    And this fortitude of mine is plunder and spoils in his possession.

    May the dwelling within my ribs delight them, for it is

    Love-stricken, surrendered to yearning's rule.

    For if there is torment for the love-enslaved in love,

    Then my heart is blissful in its love for them.
