ظباءٌ كالدَّنانير
مِلاحٌbeautiful فيin المقاصيرِsecluded chambers
مِلاحٌ في المقاصيرِ
Gazelles like dinars,
Does like golden dinars gleam,
fair ones in secluded chambers.
In their waistbands beauty supreme,
جلاهُنَّrevealed them الشَّعانينُPalm Sunday
جلاهُنَّ الشَّعانينُ
عليناto us فيin الزَّنانيرgirdles
علينا في الزَّنانير
Palm Sunday revealed them
With torches to our dome they hie
to us, wearing girdles.
Their belts with golden coins tie,
وقدand already زرَّفنَthey styled أصداغاًsidelocks
وقد زرَّفنَ أصداغاً
كأذنابِlike the tails of الزَّرازيرِstarlings
كأذنابِ الزَّرازيرِ
And they had styled their sidelocks
And don their braided locks with art
like the tails of starlings,
As hornets' tails, and graceful start,
وأقبَلنَand they came forward بأوساطٍwith waists
وأقبَلنَ بأوساطٍ
كأوساطِlike the waists of الزَّنابيرِwasps
كأوساطِ الزَّنابيرِ
and came forward with waists
While slender waists quiver and shake
like the waists of wasps.
As shaking quivers the hornets' make.
