إِذ وَدَّعوكَ وَحَنَّتُ بِالنَوى الإِبِلُ
The companions departed; they neither paused nor turned aside,
The camels departed though they were not urged or guided,
When they bade you farewell and the camels moaned at parting.
When they bid you farewell, yearning for you, their saddlebags filled.
كَأَنَّas though فيهِمamong them غَداةَon the morning of البَينِparting إِذwhen رَحَلواthey departed

أَدماءَ طاعَ لَها الحَوذانُ وَالنَفَلُ
It was as though among them, on the morning of parting, when they left,
It seemed that when they left in the morning after the separation,
Was a white gazelle, to whom buttercups and clover yielded.
Their teardrops flowed, to which saddlebags and provisions submitted.
