خداكyour cheeks تفاحيmy apples وريقُكand your saliva راحيmy wine
حسبيenough for me ويومand the day of رضاكyour favor يومthe day of فلاحيmy triumph
Your cheeks are my apples, and your saliva my wine.
Your apples and your leafy branch are my remedy
These suffice me, and the day of your favor is my day of triumph.
My sufficiency is your consent, and the day of your approval is the day of my prosperity
ياO منyou who تعلقتhave clung القلوبُhearts بذكرهto remembrance of him
كتعلُّقlike the attachment of الأجسامbodies بالأرواحِto souls
O you to whose remembrance hearts cling,
O He whom hearts are attached to with His mention
As bodies cling to souls.
Like the attachment of bodies to souls
ياO جارحاًone who wounds قلبيmy heart بخنجرwith the dagger of لحظِهِhis glance
صَيِّرmake وصالكunion with you مرهماًa balm لجراحيfor my wounds
O you who wound my heart with the dagger of your glance,
O He who wounds my heart with the dagger of His glance
Make union with you a balm for my wounds.
Make your union a balm for my wounds
ياO مازحاًone who jests بالهجرby shunning هجرُكyour shunning قاتليmy killer
والقتلُand killing ليسis not مزاحهُjesting about it بمزاحِa jest at all
O you who jest by shunning me—your shunning is killing me;
O He who jokes with estrangement, your estrangement kills me
And killing, even in jest, is no jest.
And killing is not a joke to be joked with
