قالواthey said ولوand if صحَّwere true ماwhat قالواthey said لفُزتُI would have won بهit
قالوا ولو صحَّ ما قالوا لفُزتُ به
مَنwho ليfor me بتصديقwith confirmation ماwhat قالواthey said بتكذيبِin falsehood
مَن لي بتصديق ما قالوا بتكذيبِ
They spoke; had what they said been true, I would have won it.
They said, and if what they said was true, I would have won it
Who can make true for me what they said in falsehood?
Who will confirm for me what they said by denying it
عَليَّabout me واللَهby God فيماin what شيَّعواthey spread كذبواthey lied
عَليَّ واللَه فيما شيَّعوا كذبوا
ككذْبِlike the lies of أولادsons يعقوبٍJacob علىabout الذيبِthe wolf
ككذْبِ أولاد يعقوبٍ على الذيبِ
By God, they lied about me in what they spread,
By Allah, in what they circulated they lied
Like the lies Jacob's sons told about the wolf.
Like the lies of Jacob's sons about the wolf
أستودعI entrust اللَهَGod أحباباًloved ones حُسِدتُI was envied بهمbecause of them
أستودع اللَهَ أحباباً حُسِدتُ بهم
غابواthey went away وماand did not زوَّدونيthey provisioned me غيرexcept تثريبِreproach
غابوا وما زوَّدوني غير تثريبِ
I entrust to God loved ones for whom I was envied.
I commend dear friends to God, I was envied for them
They went away and gave me no provisions but reproach.
They left without equipping me except with reproach
بانواthey departed ولمand did not يقضِfulfill زيدٌZayd منهمُfrom them وطراًa desire
بانوا ولم يقضِ زيدٌ منهمُ وطراً
ولاand not انقضتwas fulfilled حاجةٌa need فيin نفسthe soul of يعقوبJacob
ولا انقضت حاجةٌ في نفس يعقوب
They departed, and Zayd had fulfilled no desire with them,
They were gone before Zayd had fulfilled any promise
Nor had any need in Jacob's soul been fulfilled.
Or before any need in Jacob's soul was fulfilled
