مات الحسود من الكمدْ

ووفى الحبيبُ بما وَعَدْ

The envious one has died of grief.

The envious died of spite

And the beloved was true to what he promised.

While the beloved fulfilled what he had promised

حيِّي الوصال وقل له

حيِّي الوصال وقل له

دم يا وصال إلى الأبد

دم يا وصال إلى الأبد

Hail union and say to it:

Greet the union and say to it

Endure, O union, forever.

Hello O union forever

اليوم أحيا بالمنى

اليوم أحيا بالمنى

ويموت قومٌ بالحسد

ويموت قومٌ بالحسد

Today I live on hopes,

Today I live happily

And some people die of envy.

While others die of envy

أوَ ليس من طُرَف الهوى

أوَ ليس من طُرَف الهوى

عطفُ الغزال على الأسد

عطفُ الغزال على الأسد

And is it not one of love’s marvels

Is not the gaze of love

That the gazelle shows tenderness toward the lion?

Like a gazelle's kindness toward a lion
