انظر إلى الغنج يجري في لواحظِه

وانظر إلى دعجٍ في طرفه الساجي

وانظر إلى دعجٍ في طرفه الساجي

Look at the coquetry flowing in his glances.

Look at the soft flowing in its meadows

And look at the deep blackness in his languid eye.

And look at the thickets in its bending edge

وانظر إلى شعراتٍ فوق عارضه

وانظر إلى شعراتٍ فوق عارضه

كأنَّهنَّ رِمالٌ سِرنَ في عاجِ

كأنَّهنَّ رِمالٌ سِرنَ في عاجِ

And look at the hairs upon his cheek,

And look at the little hairs above its cheek

As though they were grains of sand that had moved across ivory.

As if they were fine sands blown in ivory
