إنّي لأحسد مقلتيَّ عليكا

إنّي لأحسد مقلتيَّ عليكا

حتى أغضَّ إذا نظرتُ إليكا

حتى أغضَّ إذا نظرتُ إليكا

I truly envy my own two eyes their sight of you,

I envy my eyes when they gaze upon you,

so much that I lower my gaze when I look at you.

So much that I scowl when I look at you,

وأراكَ تنظر في شمائلك التي

وأراكَ تنظر في شمائلك التي

هي فتنتي فأغار منك عليكا

هي فتنتي فأغار منك عليكا

And I see you contemplating your qualities, which

And I see you looking at your attributes,

are my enchantment; so I am jealous even of you over yourself.

Which are my temptation, so I become jealous of you because of you,

من لطف إشفاقي ورقة غيرتي

من لطف إشفاقي ورقة غيرتي

إني أغار عليك من عينيكا

إني أغار عليك من عينيكا

Out of the tenderness of my concern and the delicacy of my jealousy,

Out of the gentleness of my caring and the delicacy of my jealousy,

I am jealous over you even of your own two eyes.

Indeed, I am jealous of you because of your eyes,

ولو استطعت جرحتُ لفظك غيرةً

أني أراه مقبِّلاً شفتيكا

أني أراه مقبِّلاً شفتيكا

And if I could, I would wound your utterance out of jealousy,

And if I could, I would wound your lips out of jealousy,

for I see it kissing your two lips.

For I see them kissing your lips,

خلص الهوى لك واصطفتك مودَّتي

حتّى حذرتُ عليك من أبويكا

حتّى حذرتُ عليك من أبويكا

My love is yours alone, and my affection has chosen you,

My love is sincere to you, and my affection chose you,

until I grew wary on your behalf even of your own parents.

To the point that I worried about you from your parents.
