ويل مَن كان عاشقاً مشتاقا
I, by God, pity lovers.
I, by God, am the most merciful of lovers
Woe to whoever is a lover filled with longing.
Woe to him who was a longing lover

كل يومٍ تزيد فيه احتراقا
Love has a fire of longing within my breast;
In my heart is the fire of passion
Each day, its burning grows more intense.
Increasing in burning every day

Love has lost its currency with every lover,
Love has waned for all lovers
Yet I see it gaining currency with me.
Yet I see it increasing for me continuously

أصبح الناسُ كلُّهم عُشّاقا
If my love were divided among lovers,
If my love were divided among lovers
All people would become lovers.
People would all become lovers
