بكم غفلةٌ عمّا بنا من هواكُمُ

بكم غفلةٌ عمّا بنا من هواكُمُ

فيا عَجباً من قاتلٍ وهو غافِلُ

فيا عَجباً من قاتلٍ وهو غافِلُ

How heedless you have been of what your love has wrought in us!

You are heedless of the love for you within us;

What a wonder—a slayer who remains unaware!

So how strange—a killer who is unaware!

ويا رُبَّ سهم قد أصابَ مَقاتِلاً

ويا رُبَّ سهم قد أصابَ مَقاتِلاً

ولم يَدرِ ربُّ السَّهم ما السَّهمُ فاعِلُ

ولم يَدرِ ربُّ السَّهم ما السَّهمُ فاعِلُ

And many an arrow has struck a mortal spot,

And oh, how many an arrow has struck vital spots,

while the arrow’s master did not know what the arrow was doing.

And the arrow's owner knew not what the arrow would do.
