Are your cheeks roses, or your front teeth jewels?

And are your temple-locks musk, or your cheek-down ambergris?

And you have shone, O full moon of all beauty,

so the full moon that does not shine has done us no harm.

And never has my eye looked at the sun for a moment

in all of time without imagining it gazing toward you.

And that which has trickled down is no tear of mine,

but rain that has begun to stream down.
