وكمand many an مذنبoffender لمّاwhen أتىcame باعتذارهwith his apology
وكم مذنب لمّا أتى باعتذاره
جنىcommitted عذرُهhis excuse ذنباًan offense منthan الذنبthe offense أعظَماgreater
جنى عذرُه ذنباً من الذنب أعظَما
And many an offender, when he came with his apology,
Forgive the sins when apologies are made
found his excuse had committed an offense greater than the offense itself.
For apologies can lessen graver wrongs
