The bitterness of rejection has wasted my heart,

So the pleasure of closing my eyes was spoiled for me.

How can there be hope of healing for one made ill

    By glances from languid eyelids?

The sport of shunning has worn me away, and

The languid one, with his shunning and rejection, has exhausted me.

By the One who made gardens grow on your cheeks,

And so they brought forth redness amid whiteness:

I cannot bear to forget you, even if you made

Me drink searing poison in my love for you.

I am content with what you have done; are

You content with killing me, O fairest of people?
