يا ليتَني أُذكَر كي أذكُرَكْ
I do not forget you in any state.
I do not forget your state,
Oh, would that I were remembered, so that I might remember you.

محمودة العهد فمَن غيَّرَكْ
And we had known you in a state
We knew you in a state,
Of praiseworthy faithfulness—so who has changed you?
Of excellent reputation, so who changed you?
أشكوI complain إلىto اللَهGod فياso, oh ليتهwould that He

صبَّرني عنك كما صبَّركْ
I complain to God; oh, would that He
I complain to God, oh I wish
Had made me patient without you, as He made you patient.
He gave me patience from you as He gave you.
