ليس التحرُّز نافعاً

ولَقَلَّ ما يُغنى الحَذرْ

Taking precautions is of no use.

Precautions are of no avail,

And indeed, caution seldom avails.

And caution seldom profits.

كلُّ الأُمور إلى القدَرْ

كلُّ الأُمور إلى القدَرْ

فإذا أتى غَشّى البَصَرْ

فإذا أتى غَشّى البَصَرْ

All affairs rest with fate.

All matters yield to destiny,

So when it comes, it veils sight.

When it comes, it blinds the sight.
