شكوتُ جلوسَ إنسانٍ ثقيلٍ

شكوتُ جلوسَ إنسانٍ ثقيلٍ

فجاوَبَني بمن هو منه أثقَلْ

فجاوَبَني بمن هو منه أثقَلْ

I complained of a tiresome man's company;

I complained of a man sitting heavily

so he answered me with someone even more tiresome than him.

He replied to me with one heavier than him

فكنتُ كمن شكا الطاعونَ يوماً

فكنتُ كمن شكا الطاعونَ يوماً

فزادوه مع الطاعون دُمَّلْ

فزادوه مع الطاعون دُمَّلْ

Thus I was like someone who complained of the plague one day,

So I was like one who complained of the plague one day

so they gave him a boil on top of the plague.

And they increased him with the plague a cudgel
