أما لو كنتُ مُهدِيَ ملكِ مِصرٍ
إليكto you لَقَلَّit would surely be too little عنcompared with مقدارthe measure of شُكرِكْthanks owed to you
إليك لَقَلَّ عن مقدار شُكرِكْ
Indeed, were I to offer the kingdom of Egypt
If I were to bring you Egypt's majesty
to you, it would fall short of the thanks you deserve.
Words could not match your gratitude's degree
فأهديتُso I offered القليلَa little ببسطwith the openness of أُنسيmy affection
فأهديتُ القليلَ ببسط أُنسي
وأسألكand I ask you القبولacceptance بِبَسطwith the generosity of عذرِكْyour indulgence
وأسألك القبول بِبَسط عذرِكْ
So I offered a little with the openness of my affection,
So little have I offered, though at ease
and ask you to accept it with generous indulgence.
I ask you accept in grace my poor plea
