When he appeared in the dark night's gloom, he made me think
When he appeared in the gloom of darkness, he made me imagine

That dawn had arrived, or the light of a lamp
فقلتُso I said أفديI would ransom الذيthe one who أمستhas become زيارتهhis visit
فقلتُ أفدي الذي أمست زيارته
فيهاin it حياتيmy life وإفساديand my undoing وإصلاحيand my restoration
فيها حياتي وإفسادي وإصلاحي

In it is my life, my corruption, and my reform

Who is it that has seen a moon shine in darkness?
Who is it that saw a moon shine in the darkness?

Woe to a moon waving in the night!
