إذا سار صاح الناس حيث يسير
Do you know a thing that flies through the sky?
Do you know something that flies in the sky?
When it passes, people cry out wherever it goes.
When it moves, people cry out wherever it goes.
فتلقاهso you find it مركوباridden وتلقاهand you find it راكباriding
فتلقاه مركوبا وتلقاه راكبا
وكلand every أميرprince يعتليهmounts it أسيرa captive
وكل أمير يعتليه أسير
You meet it being ridden, and you meet it riding.
So you find it ridden, and you find it riding;
And every prince who mounts it is a prisoner.
And every prince who mounts it is a captive.
يحضit urges علىtoward التقوىpiety ويكرهand is disliked قربهits nearness
يحض على التقوى ويكره قربه
وتنفرand recoils منهfrom it النفسthe soul وهوand it is نذيرa warner
وتنفر منه النفس وهو نذير
It urges piety, though its nearness is hated.
It urges piety, yet its nearness is disliked;
The soul recoils from it, and it is a warning.
And the soul recoils from it, though it is a warner.
ولمand was not يستزرinvited to visit عنout of رغبةdesire فيfor زيارةa visit
ولم يستزر عن رغبة في زيارة
ولكنbut علىagainst رغمthe will of المزورthe one visited يزورit visits
ولكن على رغم المزور يزور
It is never invited out of any wish for a visit,
And it was not invited out of a desire for a visit;
But it visits against the will of the one visited.
But it visits against the will of the one visited.
