So do not deprive me of them, for their arrival
So leave me not without them, for their coming
Is delight to my eyes and repose to my heart.
Is rest and delight to my eyes and heart

And in letters is intimate converse with one whose conversation is hard to obtain,
And in books are whispered converse of those we hold dear
And the drawing near of one whose place of visitation is distant.
And a drawing nigh of those who have no tomb we may visit

قضى الله تسريحاً مُريحاً من الأسى
بقربِكُمُthrough nearness to you إنَّindeed البِعادseparation إسارُbondage
بقربِكُمُ إنَّ البِعاد إسارُ
May God grant a comforting release from sorrow
God grant, by your nearness, an easy loosening of grief
Through nearness to you; indeed, separation is bondage.
For distance, in truth, is a grievous bondage
