إِذا ضاقَ بابُ الرِّزقِ عَنكَ بِبَلدَةٍ

إِذا ضاقَ بابُ الرِّزقِ عَنكَ بِبَلدَةٍ

فثَمَّ بِلادٌ رِزقُها غَيرُ ضَيِّقِ

فثَمَّ بِلادٌ رِزقُها غَيرُ ضَيِّقِ

If the gate of livelihood narrows for you in a town,

If sustenance is straitened for you in a town,

then there are lands where livelihood is not scarce.

Then there are other lands whose sustenance is not so straitened.

وَإيَّاكَ وَالسُّكنى بِدَارِ مَذَلَّةٍ

وَإيَّاكَ وَالسُّكنى بِدَارِ مَذَلَّةٍ

فَتَشقَى بِكَأسِ الذِّلَّةِ المُتَدفِّقِ

فَتَشقَى بِكَأسِ الذِّلَّةِ المُتَدفِّقِ

And beware of dwelling in an abode of humiliation,

Beware of dwelling in an abode of humiliation,

lest you suffer from the overflowing cup of abasement.

Lest you suffer with a brimming cup of ignominy.

فَمَا ضاقَتِ الدُنيا عَلَيكَ بِرَحبِهَا

فَمَا ضاقَتِ الدُنيا عَلَيكَ بِرَحبِهَا

وَلا بابُ رِزقِ اللَّه عَنكَ بِمُغلَقِ

وَلا بابُ رِزقِ اللَّه عَنكَ بِمُغلَقِ

For the world, in all its breadth, has not grown narrow for you,

The spacious earth has not been straitened for you,

nor is the gate of God’s provision closed to you.

Nor has the door of Allah's sustenance been closed to you.
