يا مُفتياً بِانتِفاض الشَرع أَعصاراً

يا مُفتياً بِانتِفاض الشَرع أَعصاراً

إِن كُنتُ ريحاً فَقَد لاقَيتَ إِعصارا

إِن كُنتُ ريحاً فَقَد لاقَيتَ إِعصارا

O you who for ages have issued rulings undermining the sacred law,

O you who issues legal opinions allowing uprising against Islamic law for ages

If I am a wind, then you have met a whirlwind;

If you were a wind, you have met a hurricane

أَو كُنتُ سَيلاً فَقَد لُقّيت ذا لَجَجٍ

أَو كُنتُ سَيلاً فَقَد لُقّيت ذا لَجَجٍ

مُغطمطاً طامح الأَمواج زخارا

مُغطمطاً طامح الأَمواج زخارا

Or if I am a torrent, you have been made to face a deep sea,

Or if you were a torrent, you have met turbulent billows

Roaring, with waves surging high, overflowing.

Roaring, with ambitious waves abundant foam

إِن رمت وَقع عِتابٍ مِنهُ مُنبَثِقٍ

إِن رمت وَقع عِتابٍ مِنهُ مُنبَثِقٍ

لاقيت مِن مده الوقاعِ تَيارا

لاقيت مِن مده الوقاعِ تَيارا

If you seek the impact of a rebuke bursting from it,

If it casts blame, an outpouring will meet it from its surge

You will meet a rushing current from its pounding tide.

It will meet from its overflowing tide a stream

طوفانه إن طَما لَم يَبقِ فائضه

طوفانه إن طَما لَم يَبقِ فائضه

مِن شيعة الكُفر فَوقَ الأَرض دِيارا

مِن شيعة الكُفر فَوقَ الأَرض دِيارا

If its deluge rises, its overflow will not leave

Its deluge, if it wreaks havoc, will not spare

A single inhabitant among unbelief’s followers upon the earth,

Of the adherents of blasphemy above the land, any homes

كَفاجِرٍ مِنهُم في أَرض دانِيَةٍ

كَفاجِرٍ مِنهُم في أَرض دانِيَةٍ

قَد أَظهَر الكُفر فيها اليَوم إِظهارا

قَد أَظهَر الكُفر فيها اليَوم إِظهارا

Like a wicked man among them in the land of Dénia,

Of blasphemous wrongdoers in a near land

Who has openly displayed unbelief there today.

Who have today openly shown blasphemy in it

يا للحنيفيّ مِمّا حَلَّ ما لَكُم

يا للحنيفيّ مِمّا حَلَّ ما لَكُم

لا تُنكِرون خِلاف الشَرع إِنكارا

لا تُنكِرون خِلاف الشَرع إِنكارا

O you of the true faith, faced with what has befallen—why do you

O Hanifite from what has befallen, what is wrong with you

Not firmly denounce defiance of the sacred law?

You do not deny opposition to Islamic law

هَذا اِبن غَرسيةِ مِن لاردةٍ لهجٌ

هَذا اِبن غَرسيةِ مِن لاردةٍ لهجٌ

بِكُل كُفرٍ صَريحٍ يورد النارا

بِكُل كُفرٍ صَريحٍ يورد النارا

This Ibn Gharsiya from Lleida is obsessed

This son of Gharsiyyah, foul-mouthed towards Al-Lahd

With every blatant form of unbelief that leads to the Fire.

With every explicit blasphemy which leads to Hellfire

وَلا مَقام عَلى هَذا لِمُحتَسبٍ

وَلا مَقام عَلى هَذا لِمُحتَسبٍ

يَقوم لِلّه إِعلاناً وَإِسرارا

يَقوم لِلّه إِعلاناً وَإِسرارا

And no guardian of public morals takes a stand against this,

And there is no standing for a preacher on this

Standing for God, openly and in secret.

Who stands for God openly and discreetly

فحذروا الناس مِن روميِّ مَذهبه

فحذروا الناس مِن روميِّ مَذهبه

وَلا يُرى أَحَدٌ مِنكُم لَهُ جاري

وَلا يُرى أَحَدٌ مِنكُم لَهُ جاري

So warn the people against one whose creed is Roman,

So warn the people against the Romanizer in his doctrine

And let none of you be seen going along with him.

And let none of you be seen as an ally to him

إِنا نَرى الآن هَذا الدين نَخذله

إِنا نَرى الآن هَذا الدين نَخذله

وَنَحنُ كُنا لَهُ مِن قَبل أَنصارا

وَنَحنُ كُنا لَهُ مِن قَبل أَنصارا

Indeed, we see that we are now failing this faith,

We now see this religion we have abandoned

And yet we were once its supporters.

While we used to be its helpers before
