عجبت لذي سقمٍ معضل
يَسومhaggles with الطَبيبthe physician وَيُكديand is stingy عَلَيهtoward him
يَسوم الطَبيب وَيُكدي عَلَيه
I marvel at one with an intractable illness,
I'm amazed at one with chronic illness
who haggles with the physician and is stingy toward him:
The doctor visits him and works hard for him
يَضِنis miserly عَلَيهِtoward him بِدينارهwith his dinar
يَضِن عَلَيهِ بِديناره
وَيَجعلُand places مُهجتهُhis life فيin يَديهhis hands
وَيَجعلُ مُهجتهُ في يَديه
he begrudges him his dinar,
He's stingy with his dinar for him
yet places his very life in his hands.
And puts his soul in his hands
