نِساءٌ وَلَكن شان أَوجهها اللحى

نِساءٌ وَلَكن شان أَوجهها اللحى

فَلا منَةٌ فيكُم وَلا متعة تُرجى

فَلا منَةٌ فيكُم وَلا متعة تُرجى

Women—except that beards have marred their faces.

Women, but beards have marred their faces.

For there is no good in you, nor any pleasure to be hoped for.

So there is no strength in you, nor any pleasure to be hoped for.

فَأَنتُم خَشاشُ الأَرض في كُلِ بَلدة

فَأَنتُم خَشاشُ الأَرض في كُلِ بَلدة

فَلَيسَ لِمَدح تَصلحون وَلا هِجا

فَلَيسَ لِمَدح تَصلحون وَلا هِجا

You are the earth’s vermin in every land,

For you are the earth's vermin in every town.

so you are fit neither for praise nor for lampoon.

So you are fit for neither praise nor satire.
