وَإِنand indeed العَدوthe enemy لكالحيةsurely like the serpent الwhich (first fragment)
وَإِن العَدو لكالحية ال
تيwhich (continuing fragment) كَمنَlay hidden السمthe venom فيin ذاتهاits own body
تي كَمنَ السم في ذاتها
And indeed the enemy is like the serpent
The enemy is like a snake
within whose body venom lies hidden.
That hides venom in itself
إِذاwhen استمكنتit gained the upper hand لَدَغتit bit وَاعتَدتand it attacked
إِذا استمكنت لَدَغت وَاعتَدت
وَلَمand did not تَنتَفعyou benefit بِمداراتهاby appeasing it
وَلَم تَنتَفع بِمداراتها
When it gains the upper hand, it bites and attacks,
If it finds its grip, it will bite and attack
and you gain nothing by appeasing it.
And won't benefit from its circles
